Leather & Materials

What type of leather do you use?

We use full-grain vegetable-tanned leather — the highest quality leather available. This leather is chosen for its durability, character, and ability to develop a rich patina over time, making every piece uniquely yours.

Where is your leather sourced?

We primarily work with two exceptional leathers:

  • Spanish vegetable-tanned leather from renowned overseas tanneries
  • Montana leather sourced from American cattle

For wallet interiors, we use premium Italian leather, which we tint and finish ourselves.

What hardware do you use?

We use solid brass hardware. Like leather, brass develops a natural patina over time, adding character and individuality to your piece.

Leather Care

Can my leather bag get wet?

Leather can tolerate some moisture, but we recommend keeping your bag as dry as possible. Conditioning the leather regularly will help preserve its beauty and longevity.

How often should I condition my leather?

Generally every 6–12 months, depending on climate and use.

Will conditioner darken my leather?

It may slightly deepen the color. Always test on a small hidden area first.

How can I darken my leather?

The best way is simple: use it often. Over time, natural oils, sunlight, and handling will deepen the leather’s color. If desired, a light application of mink oil can accelerate the process.

Will my leather fade?

High-quality leather does not fade like lower-grade materials. Instead, it develops a deeper patina over time, especially with regular use and sunlight.

Custom Work

Do you offer custom pieces?

Yes, we occasionally accept custom projects. For inquiries, please contact us at Custom@POLALeather.com.

The Patina Promise

Great leather doesn’t stay the same — it gets better with time. At POLA Leather, we use full-grain vegetable-tanned leather because it develops a rich patina as it ages. Every mark, every softening edge, every deepening shade of color becomes part of the story your leather carries.

Your wallet may travel with you through airports, boardrooms, job sites, and family adventures. Over time, the leather will darken, soften, and take on character that is uniquely yours. That patina isn’t wear — it’s evidence of a life well lived.
